Commercial Registered Agent
A Commercial Registered Agent is an individual or a domestic or foreign entity that serves in this state as the agent for service of process of an entity. A Commercial Registered Agent needs to register with the Division of Corporations as a Commercial Registered Agent. However, you do not have to register as a Commercial Registered Agent if you serve as a registered agent for a business entity. If you wish to be a Commercial Registered Agent, you should currently be the registered agent for several or more business entities. This registration acts as an endorsement to an individual's name or an existing registered Utah business name.
A Commercial Registered Agent is for those individuals or business entities that wish to be an Commercial Registered Agent, this registration is not mandatory. If you are unsure about whether or not you should register as an Commercial Registered Agent, either seek legal counsel or you may talk to us about the registration requirements to see if you wish to register a Commercial Registered Agent.

Register as a Commercial Registered Agent
- Click the "Get Started" button below to log in using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will create one at login.
- Select "Formations” from the left side menu and click on "Commercial Registered Agent".
- Follow the instructions to complete your filing by providing required information such as business classification, name availability, registered agent, and principle information.
- Please note, the new system uses a linear, step-by-step, filing flow. To move to the next step in the filing flow, look for the “Next” button in the bottom right corner.
File an Amendment
- Click the "Get Started" button below to log in using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will create one at login.
- From the dashboard, click "File On An Existing Business".
- Enter the name or entity number into the appropriate field and click "Search".
- Select the bubble next to the entity you are filing on and then click "Select Entity".
- At the bottom, select filing type from the drop-down list.
- From there, continue following online steps as directed.
- Please note, the new system uses a linear, step-by-step, filing flow. To move to the next step in the filing flow, look for the “Next” button in the bottom right corner.
All Other Filing Types
- Select the PDF, fill out the form, and save a copy.
- Click the "Get Started" button below to log in using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will create one at login.
- Select "Submit a Paper Filing” from the navigation menu on the left.
- Follow the instructions to upload your filing.
