Trademark

You can register a Trademark online  , opens in a new tab. You will need to create an account to manage your trademark.

If you wish to register your Trademark inhouse, you can use the application  , opens in a new tabfor a Trademark. Make sure to check the box New Filing. This process can take up to 7 business days before it is processed.

You can renew a Trademark online  , opens in a new tabif the trademark is in the renewal period.

Otherwise, You can renew a Trademark by completing the application  , opens in a new taband renewal notice which was mailed to the applicant of the trademark. Make sure to check the box Renewal. If you do not have the renewal notice, you will need to contact our office for that.

You can find out if the name you want to use for a Trademark is available by doing a Business Name Availability Search  , opens in a new tab. You may also contact our office to verify that the name you want to use is available.

You may also conduct a Business Registration Search  , opens in a new tabto see if there are other business entities that are already registered that may have a name similar to the name that you wish to use.

Please note that although a name may appear to be available nothing is final until the Division of Corporations and Commercial Code approves the business filing.

Trademarks do not have a delinquent status.

If a Trademark is expired, you will need to refile a new Trademark application  , opens in a new tab.

For all entity types except DBAs, you can order a Certificate of Existence online by visiting the Ordering/Obtaining Copies & Certificate page. Click the “Order a Certificate of Existence” button, log in with your UtahID (create one if you don’t have it), select Copies and Certificates, then choose Request Certificate of Existence and complete the form.

Note: You cannot order a Certificate of Existence if the record status is Involuntarily/Voluntarily Dissolved, Expired, Revoked, or Cancelled. However, you can order it if the status is Current or Delinquent.

1. Short Form - $12.00 
   One-page document that indicates that the business entity exists and whether it is current.
2. Long Form-$20.00 
   Indicates the existence of the business entity, whether it is current, and all restated articles, and any amendments to date).
