Commercial Registered Agent

A Commercial Registered Agent is an individual or a domestic or foreign entity that serves in this state as the agent for service of process of an entity. A Commercial Registered Agent needs to register with the Division of Corporations as a Commercial Registered Agent. However, you do not have to register as a Commercial Registered Agent if you serve as a registered agent for a business entity. If you wish to be a Commercial Registered Agent, you should currently be the registered agent for several or more business entities. This registration acts as an endorsement to an individual's name or an existing registered Utah business name.

A Commercial Registered Agent is for those individuals or business entities that wish to be an Commercial Registered Agent, this registration is not mandatory. Register as a Commercial Registered Agent

  1. Log in to businessregistration.utah.gov using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will create one on the login page.
  2. Select "Formations” from the menu on the left and choose the entity type (Domestic, Foreign, DBA, etc.).
  3. Follow the instructions to complete your filing by providing required information such as business classification, name availability, registered agent, and principle information.

File an Amendment

  1. Log in to businessregistration.utah.gov using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will create one on the login page.
  2. From the dashboard, click "File On An Existing Business".
  3. Enter the name or entity number into the appropriate field and click "Search".
  4. Select the bubble next to the entity you are filing on and then click "Select Entity".
  5. At the bottom, select filing type from the drop-down list.
  6. From there, continue following online steps as directed.
